8-20-08-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well sorry for the delay. Computer issues beyond our control halted our ability to update the webpage, but we are finally back.
Weather was the story again at Millville. Friday practice started wet and shaped up well by mid afternoon but rain Friday evening left the track pretty wet for Saturdays race. John Martin and his crew had equipment on the track early Saturday and were able to present the riders with a pretty good racetrack considering the amount of rain that fell Friday evening. Actually John and his crew outdid themselves all things considered............................A big THANKS to John and his crew.
On to Redddddddddd Buddddddddddd! Weather doesn't appear to be a problem this weekend.
5-4-08-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even though Fridays practice was cancelled and even though it didn't seem like it was going to clear up anytime soon, Saturdays opening round of the 2008 RacerX Senior Championship was run with surprisingly good track conditions. The weather remained cool and sunshine elusive but a little tractor work produced a really nice racetrack. Next up Spring Creek...............................6-6/7
3-27-08-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally the snow is melting..............................Jeff Blaha, I need your address. If anybody knows Jeff ask him to FAX his address to 815-229-1103.
Something a little different at Motosports Park for the opener, The track may be running in reverse (Clockwise). Stay tuned..........
Also, we now have an email link on the home page so you can email us directly. I'm not sure how often we'll be able to check the email but we'll do our best....One thing, RACERX MUST appear in the subject line or the message goes right in the trash. We'll see how that works out.
9-16-07--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final points standings are posted............40A and 30B the top 3 were within 9 points but the best was Plus 55 that went down to the last moto...... 6 points separated the top 3 riders....................look over the final standings and let me know if there are any problems. On to 2008.
9-10-07---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another DIRTY OLD BLASTERS is in the books. Probably the finest race weather of the year along with great track conditions. A big thanks to all the volunteer club members that helped make the final round a success. James Polvoney and Tommy Hoffmaster were on hand to put on quite an exhibition in the +25 and +30 A classes and the old guys were out in force with a full gate of +50s. Total, there were over 60 guys over the age of 50 signed up in the +50, +55 and +60 classes. That reinforces the "Senior" in RacerX Senior Championship. Overall Series results will be posted later in the week so stand by.
8-19-07-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2007 VetFest at RedBud delivered more than expected. Perfect weather both Friday and Saturday and a great turnout made for an excellent racing weekend. Tim Richie made a race track that, with few exceptions just plain kicked everybodies butt. One of those exceptions was John Grewe who took home 1st place honors in +30A, +35A and +40A. For those of you that missed out on an overall award or didn't grab an event tee shirt, check out the 2007 VetFest graphic.....maybe the best so far. Next up Dirty old Blasters 15 on 9-7/8.
The points are posted through three rounds. Please make sure your points are correct. If they aren't check and make sure you are not listed twice. That sometimes happens if there is a mistake in data entry at signup. It's easy to fix, I just need to know. Send a comment and include your Name and Ama Number.
6-15-07-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2007 Old Mans Madness run at Spring Creek is in the books....a great motocross weekend. As always the Millville crew did a great job. A steady light rain on Friday made track conditions perfect for practice. Overnight rain made Saturday practice a little sloppy but provided what turned out to be just enough water to keep the racetrack nice throughout the Saturday afternoon motos. Again.. a big thanks to Greta and John Martin and their whole staff for the hospitality.
The points are posted for the first two rounds. Please make sure your points are correct. If they aren't check and make sure you are not listed twice. That sometimes happens if there is a mistake in data entry at signup. It's easy to fix, I just need to know. Send a comment and include your Name and Ama Number.
Now on to ReddddddddddBuddddddddddd!!!!!
5-23-07--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well the 2007 RacerX Senior Championship Series is underway.
The 36 year old racing facility at Motosports Park received a facelift this spring offering the riders a revised layout. The best weather of the season on both Friday and Saturday made the weekend an old motocrosser’s dream.
Plus 55 was an early success with 11 entries while the Plus 50 continues to almost fill the starting gate with 32 entries.
I’ve never seen so many AMA Life Members at signup………………I think I signed up a guy with AMA number 1.
A big thanks to Aaron Vincer and the crew at MotoSports Park, especially Fonzie and Beans, for putting on the kind of race weekend the RacerX Senior Championship Series is all about.
I received a couple of complaints about guys dropping down from "A" to "B". I'm looking into it. You are what you are. So if you have an "A" card from your District or if you ride "A" and collect money, you are "A". We will not hesitate to publically embarrass any "Cherry pickin, sun dress wearin trophy queens" so be forewarned. .... make it easy and ride where you belong.
Next stop Millville 6-1 and 6-2………………………………….
4-6-07--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you caught me... the date I posted for MotoSports Park was 5/18 and of course, that is the Friday Practice Day. Round 1 of the 2007 RacerX Senior Championship will indeed be Saturday May 19th with Open practice on Friday 5/18............To answer a couple inquiries...First I agree a couple of the dates are too close together and realize that makes attending Friday practice difficult in some cases....but here's the deal. MXSPORTS (the Loretta Lynn folks) schedule their Area and Regional qualifiers early in the year and racetracks that are selected to hold one of these events pretty much take the dates they are assigned. This along with District schedules and National events and early and late season weather makes squeezing the RacerX Senior Championship into the schedule a challenge. The alternative is to find alternate locations......I got news for everyone. . . . That will never happen unless the racetracks get tired of us. We will, however, do our best to spread out the schedule.....
Second. We don't run "C" classes in the Series because first not all Districts have "C" classes, second it's hard enough to get things to give away for 14 classes much less 8 or 10 more and third who would police the class to keep the "Cherry pickin, sun dress wearin trophy queens" out of the class.
I pulled the following post from farther down the thread that addressed the "C" class issue a couple of years ago.....
Just a note on "C". The AMA rulebook considers a rider "C" if they typically
finish in the lower 30% of their class. 21st to 30th in a class of 30 riders so come on guys
somebody has to finish 20th. So with that said "C" isn't a place
for midpack "B" riders to cherry pick, but a place for slow beginners to have some fun.
Each racetrack has the option of running "C" classes as support classes, but there are no points or awards. Check the racetrack websites for details
OK I've made my amends...................Don't forget the NEW Plus 55 class, Can you tell I found the highlight tool in the menu?
3-31-07---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again I'm tardy.. sorry. New for 2007 and driven by participation is a PLUS 55 class. The plus 50 had a full gate at the DOB14 and almost required qualifiers at RedBud. So any of you 55 plus guys that quit because the <55 "kids" were whipping your butt come on back out. News from RedBud, 80/94 is finished through Northwestern Indiana so the EAST-WEST trip should be considerably less stressful. Check it out here.RedBud Track 'N' Trail. Also MotoSports Park is undergoing a backwoods facelift check out the changes.... MotoSports Park.
9-23-06---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry for the delay in this posting, but my boss actually expected me to work for the last couple of weeks...can you believe that?
DOB 14 is in the books and the club members at Azzie out did themselves this year and ran quite an event highlighted by the dedication of a monument on the club grounds to the late Mike Gaborsky. Friday practice was great, but the threat of rain had everybody on edge for Saturday. The rain stayed away and Saturdays races went of without a hitch, final Series points were tallied and Overall Series awards were given out.
As in the past, we don't mail out series awards....period. If you don't care enough about the award to either attend the final round and support the series or make arrangements to have someone pick it up for you then that's too bad.
Watch for the 2007 schedule around January 1st. RedBud is in for August 17-18 and Azzie should be September 7-8.
8-23-06---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VetFest practice on Friday was perfect. Everyone was eager to try the new track layout we all saw last month at the National. The layout was quite a hit.... I practiced until my arms fell off. Rain Friday night may have reduced the turnout for Saturday, but Tim and Amy have got this racing thing down pat. A little wet for the first practice and, even in spite of a light drizzle most of the morning, the track just got better and better. The prep and layout made for some great, old time MX. On to DIRTY OLD BLASTER 14 at Azzie on 9-9/10.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR POINTS! With data entry by four different racetracks, typos happen and you could get listed in the results two or three times so your points don't total up. We try to proof read the best we can, but we're old and our collective attention span is usually too short to make it through the 1000 or so results listed in the overalls. If you find a mistake, email a COMMENT and we'll fix it before Aztalan. Thanks..
6-12-06 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Old Mans Madness 2006 was a blast.. in spite of the 2" plus rain that fell Friday night after the practice session. Fridays practice was awesome, Saturday mornings warmup was less than stellar but within an hour to an hour and a half the track was perfect and required water at intermission. Stevenson, Pederson, Decker and Polvony were a few of the new names on hand for the Minnesota round of the 2006 RacerX Senior Championship. Watching those guys battle was a real treat. On to RedBud for VetFest................
9-12-05---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dirty Old Blasters 13 is in the books.. A great race weekend and a NASTY Dirty Old Blaster of a Race track by second moto Saturday. Final awards were given out as the races wound down and a special thanks to all the Azzie volunteers who helps put on this event. Watch for the results to be posted and a story by Mark.
8-20-05---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, laying in the motel room at 3am Friday, listening to the storm outside hammer at the window, I thought I may have just driven to Michigan for breakfast with friends.... boy was I wrong! Tim Richie and his crew have this track prep stuff down pat. The gravel access road was harder to navigate than the racetrack. So if the rain scared you off, you missed a perfect racetrack.
Watch for Mark Thompsons photos and race report to be posted soon. Next up, Dirty Old Blasters at Lake Mills, Wisconsin and year end awards. The current points will be posted by the weekend, so please check for mistakes and use the COMMENTS PAGE to let me know. I need your name, AmA number, class and a brief description of the problem It will be too late to make corrections if you wait until Aztalan to bring them to my atttention... Thanks
6-30-05---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone who missed last weeks Old Man Madness at Millville, may have missed the best series race ever. Light rain during Fridays practice and the skills of John Martins track crew provided an excellent race weekend for all in attendance. Watch for a story by Mark Thompson and photos of both the Vet Open and Old Man Madness to be posted soon after the Red Bud National this weekend. Also Boone Iowa is hosting a race for vet riders 7-9. While it is not a RacerX Senior Championship event this year ( Yes, I know there has been some confusion), if the event is a success and we can secure a date closer to the end of July, we'd like to add it to the 2006 Series Schedule. Well, off to Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed Buuuuuuuuuuuuuud. Maybe, if I pay attention, I can pick up a hot line through the whoops to use at VetFest, or maybe not..............(see CYCLE NEWS REPORT).
5-27-05----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2005 Vet Open is in the books (see CYCLE NEWS REPORT). Great weather and hard work by the MSP crew made for one of the best Senior events held at Motosports Park. A thank you to Aaron and his crew for making it happen. Mark Thompson has posted a story and has photos. He sent me some of the pictures, but an e-mail snafu sent them into e-mail hell. Early next week I'll get them posted, along with an address for Marks website where you can see more of them. Next up Millville and Mr. W.Monster. I passes on all the requests I received to tame down the whoops......John just laughed at me.
9-22-04----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VET OPEN at MotoSports Park this weekend---word has it weather will be perfect for both practice Friday and race Saturday ..."C" classes will be on the race order...... and the track is running in the forward direction. OverAll awards after the races.
9-12-04----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dirty Old Blasters 12 is history and the results are posted as well as the Series Points.. Next up MotoSports Park VET OPEN 9-24 and 25. Overall awards (top 10) will be available at the final event. See you there......
6-30-04-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well Spring Creek is in the books.....and what a race weekend! Perfect weather and perfect conditions made for a race weekend to remember. Riders from Ca, Co, Wy, Tx, Canada, SD, In, Il, Oh, Wi, Ia, Mo, Mn, Ga and probably more were on hand to compete in the 2004 RacerX Senior Championship round at Spring Creek in Millville Minnesota. Check back for an account of the races that will be posted ASAP. Until then, the results and points are posted. Also check out the GREG WOLFFE photos at mnracing.com. If you could only race once a summer this is the weekend you would dream about.
The "C" classes were a success by providing some newcomers classes to ride. For the most part, everyone rode in the appropriate classes and policed themselves pretty well. There were only a couple of DQs for riding out of class, and several "C" riders moved to "B" when they found out there would be no Championship Awards for "C". Next up the new Whoops at RedBud!.
6-14-04-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well guys, sorry for the delay in posting NEWS... but here we go. We asked as many of the racers that attended the Friday May 21st practice at MotoSports Park when it would be easiest for them to return for a rain date, and Fall was the overwhelming choice so, after a couple of weeks of wrangling with the schedules of 6 Districts and 3 other racetracks the rain date for the May event at MotoSports Park will be September 24 and 25. Same deal, practice Friday, racing Saturday (If Saturday the 25th were to get rained out, the Senior classes will run Sunday with the regularly scheduled MX on the 26th.) We are hoping for good weather. I think racing in the Fall is the best. Series awards will be handed out at the final event.
OK, Millville on the horizon......... OLD MANS MADNESS! News from up North are "C" classes. Yes, Millville will run +25, +30, +35, +40 and +45 C as SUPPORT CLASSES. These classes will be open to riders classified as "C" by the District in which they reside (AMA rules state you can have cards from more than one district and accumulate points in several districts, but you must have a card from the district in which you live.) I want to make it clear that there will be no series awards or points for any of the "C" classes. These are strictly SUPPORT CLASSES.
Just a note on "C" the AMA rulebook considers a rider "C" if they typically finish in the lower 30% of their class. 21st to 30th in a class of 30 riders so come on guys somebody has to finish 20th. Just look at my +45A results from last year. So with that said "C" isn't a place for midpack "B" riders to cherry pick, but a place for slow beginners to have some fun.
Enough about "Cherry pickin, sun dress wearin trophy queens"................there's a country and western song in there somewhere.
The pictures on the web of Greta Martins new sky boxes look great.... I can't wait to see them in person....or maybe get an invite for the National weekend from one of the leasers.
Finally, we need some help with PRESS coverage at the events. Larry Whitmer does a fine job for Redbud but we don't have anyone at the other three events. I remember a couple years ago, someone did a story about the first Millville race and got it published in Cycle News and Cycle USA. I'm sorry I don't remember who that was, but if anybody knows who that was or if anyone would like to help out, please let me know, but remember we are pretty much unfunded so please don't expect more than a sincere thanks.
Also, I am aware of the problems with the e-mail on the website. In an effort to combat SPAM, I've changed some administrative settings on the website and disrupted the "SUBMIT" function. Actually, I think the stuff still goes through, but you don't get the correct confirmation page. I'll get it fixed as soon as I can........
See you at Millville......this year I'm bringing WHOOPMONSTER REPELLANT!
